It is supposed that pizza originated in Naples, 5 centuries ago as a form of flatbread with topping. It was known as food of the poor people at the beginning. With time pizza became one of the most famous and most enjoyed foods in history. To be honest, there is not anyone in the world that can resist to this tasty and aromatic dish.

Pizza is the food anyone loves and it is very hard to avoid it. But pizza in it standard form is very high in calories and can’t be a part of your diet, or it can?  Standard pizza crust is made of simple raising dough with flour, water and oil. In combination with the cheese it makes unhealthy and calorie full combination. But if you modify the dough a little you may get amazing tasty and healthy pizza that you can enjoy without any guilt.


Pizza will be healthier if the crust is made of something else instead of flour. We have here a healthy and tasty recipe for pizza dough using cauliflower.  When you do this replacement you will get super tasty and healthy form of pizza that only has 300 calories. You can eat it without guilt, even if you are on diet.

To prepare this pizza you will need the following:


1 cauliflower head (about 800 grams),
1 egg,

100 grams grated parmesan cheese,
½ kg mozzarella cheese,
basil, oregano, salt, pepper, tomato sauce and topping of your choice.

How to prepare the pizza

Wash the cauliflower and grate it. Put it in boiling water and cook it for 3 minutes. Then strain the cauliflower and place it bigger bowl. Add the egg and season with salt and pepper. Put baking paper in a pan and then place your cauliflower pizza dough on the paper. Put it in preheated oven on 200 degrees Celsius and bake it around 40 minutes. Then take the pizza out and put the tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, and oregano.   You can put fresh tomatoes, olives and then bake it for another 15 minutes on 220 degrees Celsius. Take it out of the oven and add some fresh basil leaves.


You can enjoy this tasty and healthy meal without any guilt. This pizza is good way to eat more vegetables, especially for those that don’t like them as much. It does not contain flour but the taste is still amazing. It is good way to make your kids eat cauliflower.
