Sesame has been among us for over 5 millenniums. There are many uses of sesame seeds through history. Although mainly used as oil plant, in is known for its medicine powers even from ancient Egypt. Thanks to the concentration of calcium and magnesium, the sesame seeds are good for heart and bones health.
Organic honey can energize the body and boost immune system. This powerful natural combination can lower blood pressure, improve blood flow and prevent cancer. They are also good to treat anxiety, fatigue and depression. This mixture is good for the whole body.
SESAME FOR ANEMIA:
This recipe, that is so delicious, and at the same time healthy and packed with iron will help you against anemia. To prepare it you need this:
– 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
– 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
– 3 tablespoons honey
– 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
– A few drops of vanilla extract.
Prepare by mixing it all together with a wooden spoon. You will get a creamy paste and you use it two to three times one tablespoon of it. Drink lemonade afterwards because vitamin C helps iron to stick to the organism better and faster.
SESAME AND HONEY CAKES-HEALTHIEST SWEETS
This is probably the oldest recipe for cakes. It has the most health benefits and you can eat it without guilt because it is so healthy. We prepared it by this recipe and we will show you the step by step preparation with photos.
Basic ingredients: sesame and honey one cup of each. Because I tried it I will suggest that you either lower the amount of honey of put tablespoon or two more sesame.
Optional ingredients: almonds, walnuts, olive oil, lemon juice, salt…it is up to your taste. I used almonds, dried cranberries and just a pinch of salt.
Preparation: bake the sesame seeds on a low heat for about 5 minutes and constantly stir. I let it to bake by itself and some seeds became brown instead golden. Melt the honey also on low heat. Then add the seeds to the honey.
Stir constantly and just before it starts to boil remove from heat. Stir for a little more. Add the optional ingredients now.
Mix it well. Then pour the mass in a container that is covered with a non stick paper.
Let it cool down. It is very hard to remove it from the paper because it melts so fast. You can cut the desired shapes or you can try molds but it is so sticky that you will probably have to use silicone molds that you put some oil on. My advice is to spread the mass as thin as you can. We made it like this and it disappeared very soon.
It is easy to make and sweet and yet healthy and kids love it-enjoy.
